FPSS Foster Parent Support Services Society is a non-profit organization contracted by the Ministry of Children and Family Development to provide support, networking, BC Foster Care Education Program, communication and on-going training services for the Foster Parents of the Vancouver Island Region. We liaise with the Ministry of Children and Family Development to keep you apprised of new and changing Ministry policies, guidelines, expectations and initiatives.

As you have been approved to provide foster care by the Ministry, your Resource Worker has submitted your name, address and phone number to our office. We have entered the information into our database and you will be receiving our newsletter—The Island Connection.

Our bi-monthly newsletter contains important information re: After Hours Support Line info, After Hours Emergency Numbers, Peer Support Groups, Mentoring Program, Regional and Local Workshops, Ministry Policy changes, Meetings, Special Events, Coffee Parties, Regional and Local Contact Numbers, etc.

We encourage you to use the FPSS Society Parenting Resource Library. We have books, videos and audiotapes, covering most parenting topics. Items are available for loan—free of charge!

You are welcome and encouraged to participate in our events, support groups and meetings. It is an excellent opportunity for you to meet and network with other Foster Parents. Please contact your Area Coordinator with any questions, issues or concerns.
