Environmental Emergency Information for Caregivers
As we move into the season when the natural elements in our province can lead to potential home evacuation, we want to relay some important information.
In the event you have been impacted, the Ministry for Children and Family Development (MCFD) has put in place a phone number for the specific use of all care providers (Foster Parents working directly with MCFD and contracted agency staffed residential and satellite homes).
Please call:1.800.663.9122
(When the phone is answered please indicate your call is in regard to evacuation)
- If you have been evacuated for any reason – provide your new location (we need to know the location of every child in care), your current contact information (cell etc) and name of the child/ren in your care.
- If you have been or are needing to evacuate and require support to seek alternative accommodation
In addition to ensuring care providers are supported, we ask that all care providers ensure we have current mobile phone numbers, email addresses and an alternate contact name/number. Contact your MCFD Resource Social Worker to make certain our records are current so that contact between care providers for children in care and MCFD can happen as needed despite care provider location.
If you have evacuated your home community and require support please contact the local MCFD office in your new area. All MCFD offices in and surrounding affected areas are available to any care provider.
Thank you for your continued commitment to children in care.
