Every October, we take time to celebrate Foster Family Month in BC.
There are over 1,000 children and youth on Vancouver Island right now who are not able to live with their families. They need a temporary home, a safe haven where they can stay while they and their families heal and become strong again. Foster families provide this.
Foster families make room in their hearts and homes for children and youth facing difficult times. They include them in that day at the beach, the Saturday popcorn and movie night, or the family dinner. They offer these temporary family members acceptance, support, comfort, and patience.
The Board and Staff of Foster Parent Support Services Society stand in awe of the compassion and dedication the foster families of Vancouver Island demonstrate on a daily basis. Thank you for being there for children and youth when their families can not be. Thank you for giving them the time, space, and support to heal and for letting them go when the time comes.
