Happy National Volunteer Week 2016

Volunteer Week (April 10 to April 16, 2016)
Volunteers are the roots of strong communities

Definition: Volunteering is time willingly given for the common good and without financial gain -
Volunteering Australia

Foster Parent Support Services Society would like to thank and recognize all those who have willingly given to the Vancouver Island Fostering Community. These generous people who go the extra mile to help strengthen this community includes but is not limited to; Foster Parents and their families, Social Workers, Community Partners, and previous Youth in Care etc.

Some ways people volunteer and give back to the Fostering Community:
• Supporting Foster Family Events (fundraising, planning, set-up)
• Fundraising for Local Foster Parent groups
• Facilitating and organizing workshops
• Supporting Foster Families
• Supporting previous Youth in Care
• Providing Protocol support
• Mentoring Foster Parents
• Helping a Child/Youth in Care
• Lending a listening ear to another Foster Parent
• Planning and helping out at events
If you would like to volunteer in your community, please call FPSS Society at
1-888-922-8437 and we will find a way to let you share your time and talents.

Volunteers are the roots of strong communities. Just like roots are essential for trees to thrive, volunteers are essential for communities to thrive. Thanks to volunteers, our communities grow strong and resilient. Even the tiniest volunteer effort leaves a profound and lasting trace in a community, much like tree rings that appear over time.

April 10 to April 16, 2016 is National Volunteer Week (NVW), a time to celebrate and thank Canada's 12.7 million volunteers.

Thank you,

Board and Staff at Foster Parent Support Services Society
