Speaker: Youth Caregivers Project
Topic: Ending the Silence

SIFPA & FPSSS invites you to an interactive meeting with lively discussion on current fostering issues. This month, the Youth Caregivers Project from the Cowichan Valley, including a panel of youth, will share their experiences as youth caregivers. A youth caregiver is anyone up to the age of 25 who is the main caregiver in the family due to their parent’s illness, disability, addiction or other difficulties. Many foster children are former youth caregivers and face difficulties when they move into foster homes because they still carry with them the sense of responsibility that they should be in charge.  Foster parents who are aware of this situation are better able to understand the youth and find ways to support them in the transition from caregiver to care receiver.

Please RSVP to Sandy Case at 250-478-2782 or
