WARNING: Chlorine Bombs

Please be advised of a new and dangerous activity youth may become involved with.

Chlorine bombs are made with chlorine tablets mixed with milk or rubbing alcohol in a small water bottle or 2 liter pop bottle. The chlorine bomb can cause property damage or severe injury. When the contents are mixed without being shaken, there is a delay of one to two minutes before the explosion. If the mixture is shaken, the delay is 30 second or less. Always use caution if you find a plastic bottle with a cap. Do not touch it!

Youth are putting Drano, tin foil, and a little water in plastic drink bottles and capping it, leaving it on lawns, in mail boxes, in gardens, on driveways, etc. They are waiting for you to pick it up, intending to put it in the garbage, but you'll never make it! If the bottle is picked up and shaken even a little, it builds up pressure then explodes with enough force to remove some of your extremities. This happens in 30 seconds or less. The liquid that comes out is boiling hot.

Don't pick up any plastic bottles that may be lying in your yards or in the gutter, etc. Pay attention to this. A plastic bottle with a cap. A little Drano. A little water. A small piece of tin foil. Disturb it by moving it; and BOOM! No fingers left and other serious effects to your face, eyes, etc.
